Organization

The Society of  CSU Faculty/AP Retirees is an open organization comprised of retired faculty and administrative professionals of Colorado State University. It is led by a President and a Vice President who serve two-year terms. An Executive Committee, chaired by the President, is active in formulating all Society procedures and policies and advising the officers on Society administrative matters. The Society is organized as a “Special Unit” under Section B.2.6 (University Centers, Institutes, and Other Special Units) of the Academic Faculty and Administrative Professional Manual.

In 2010, the Society adopted a new and substantially revised set of By-Laws which formalized leadership roles and responsibilities and established an improved Mission Statement compatible with similar organizations around the country.

Programs of the Society of CSU Faculty/AP Retirees

The Society offers several programs designed to enhance the quality of life for retirees. In addition, we support opportunities for those who wish to remain actively involved in the three core missions of CSU: research, teaching, and service.  All programs of the Society are open to the public.

Speaker Series

The Society joins with the Osher Institute of Lifelong Learning (Osher) to sponsor distinguished speakers each semester – usually four in the Fall and five in the Spring. These programs present information of scientific, cultural,  or artistic content.

Society Tours, Classes and Lectures

Occasionally the Society’s Executive Board will hear of tours, classes, and lectures they feel could be of interest to members. When this happens, members will be notified of these opportunities via email. Past examples include tours of the Avenir Museum, the CSU Health Network, and other newly built or renovated buildings on campus, classes on computer applications, training on utilizing special behind-the-scenes features of the Morgan Library, and lectures by world-renowned specialists visiting CSU.

Retirement Resources

The Society provides several resources for those considering retirement in the next few years. We have developed a guide to retirement, “Retiring from CSU? A Guide for Faculty of Things to Think About”. Prof. Manfred Diehl’s excellent Life Planning for Optimal Aging presentation is also available for viewing.  Download the presentation (.pdf).
